High-Impact Tutoring After-School Program

P.S. 277 offers High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) in reading to students in grades K–2 three times per week after school. HIT is a research-based intervention that supplements core classroom instruction and is intentionally aligned to students’ individual literacy needs. Tutors use Reading Ready and UFLI Foundations to deliver explicit, systematic instruction in phonics.

MSbK

MSBK empowers students through collaborative schoolwide initiatives and district events. Students work together to build leadership skills, engage in community service, and strengthen their communication, teamwork, and confidence.

ENL After-School Enrichment Program

PS 277 offers an ENL After-School Enrichment Program designed to support Multilingual Learners in a small, engaging, and supportive setting. Students strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through Reader’s Theater, NYSESLAT-aligned practice, academic vocabulary development, and homework support.

The program focuses on building language confidence, reading fluency, and academic success while encouraging students to express their ideas clearly and confidently.

Basketball builds teamwork, discipline, and leadership while promoting physical fitness and school spirit. Students develop communication skills, confidence, and resilience through practice and competition.

volleyball

Volleyball encourages collaboration, coordination, and strategic thinking. Players strengthen communication, trust, and teamwork while building confidence and athletic skills.

debate

Debate sharpens critical thinking, public speaking, and research skills. Students learn to articulate ideas clearly, respect diverse perspectives, and build confidence through structured discussion and argument.
